HIPAA

Claims
Ingenix accepts HIPAA-standard 837 X12 transactions as well as the National Standard Format (NSF) and HCFA-1500 and UB92 Print Files. We also accept many different proprietary formats. Regardless of the inbound format, Ingenix converts these claims into the HIPAA-standard 837 X12 transaction before delivering claims to payers.
Remittances
Payers deliver remittance data to Ingenix in the HIPAA-required 835 X12 format. Ingenix can either forward the same 835 X12 transaction to the provider, or we can convert it to one of many proprietary remittance formats such as an older version of X12 (3030, 3051 3B, or 3051 4B) or an NSF format.
Eligibility / Claim Status / Referral and Authorization Inquiries and Responses
Providers can submit inquiries to Ingenix via the HIPAA-standard 270/276/278 X12 transactions. In addition, inquiries can be directly entered into web screens on the Ingenix website. Inquiries are converted to the payer preferred format and forwarded to the payer. Responses are received from payers and either converted back into HIPAA-standard 271/277/278 X12 transactions or made available to providers via web screens on the Ingenix website.
